It is so very important to manage your time and communicate effectively to mass audiences especially when running a film festival. Time management is going to always be an important asset to have, not only for this class or Visions, but for my daily life. I think that the 80/20 rule is quite important and can be applied to my daily life with balancing school, work and Visions. There is going to be days where I have a lot of work that needs to get done (the 80) and managing for future projects is going to be a part of the planning stage of Visions (the 20).
If I was approached by a random student on UNCW's campus who wanted to know more about what the Visions Film Festival and Conference, I would want to feel confident in telling them exactly what Visions represents. Like time management, public speaking is an important asset to have, especially as a filmmaker. If there comes a day when I have to present a film at a festival, I want to seek comfort in knowing that I have experience in discussing other films and sounding eloquent when discussing my own film. Q & A sessions seem intimidating but under the right circumstances and with the right training, I would feel equipped to answer questions in an engaging manner. I would definitely try to incorporate my humor as well and use it as a way to relate to the audience in an interactive manner. After all, a Q & A serves the purpose of an audience member being able to form a relationship with a filmmaker by having them divulge into questions about their own film and their unique filmmaking process.
